Government of Liberia Trains Content Creators to Unlock TikTok and Facebook Monetization
The Government of Liberia has concluded a two-day capacity-building training to equip local content creators with the skills to monetize their work on TikTok and Facebook and to advance the nation’s digital economy agenda. The program was organized by the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Speaking at the program, LTA Commissioner for Consumer Affairs Patrick Honnah said, “The monetization initiative is designed to empower Liberian content creators and improve their livelihoods through digital platforms. “Liberian creators are making significant progress in the digital space. It is time we establish clear monetization pathways so they can benefit financially from their work.”
Commissioner Honnah emphasized the program’s role in national development and youth empowerment. “This effort is part of broader initiatives to promote innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among our growing youth population,” he noted. “While many young people actively use social media, too many lack the technical know-how to monetize content professionally. We’re closing that gap, and we encourage creators to use their platforms to project a positive image of Liberia.” For his part, LTA Commissioner Ben Fofana said the training delivered practical guidance on digital branding, audience growth, and revenue strategies tailored for major platforms. “Participants received hands-on coaching in digital branding, audience engagement, and revenue-generation strategies that can turn online talent into sustainable livelihoods. “Our goal is to help creators build credible brands, connect with audiences, and convert creativity into income.”
Youth and Sports Minister Cornelia Kruah welcomed the initiative as a milestone in Liberia’s digital transformation. “This training is a positive step forward for Liberia’s digital future,” Minister Kruah said. “We thank the LTA, the Ministry of Information, and our partners from TikTok and Facebook for supporting this effort to empower young Liberians with real economic opportunities online.” The program forms part of the Government of Liberia’s broader strategy to expand digital inclusion, create jobs, and support the creative economy by aligning national capabilities with global platform standards
