LTA Issues Value-Added Service License to Liberian-Owned VITA Business Line Inc.

Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has issued a Value-Added Service (VAS) License to VITA Business Line Inc., a 100 percent Liberian-owned company, reaffirming its commitment to supporting local entrepreneurship and expanding participation in Liberia’s growing telecommunications sector. The issuance of the license underlines the LTA’s efforts to promote innovation, digital inclusion, and economic growth by creating opportunities for Liberian businesses to provide technology-driven services.

Value-Added Services (VAS) are non-core telecommunications services that complement traditional voice and data offerings. These services include mobile financial access solutions that facilitate faster transactions and support small-business growth, as well as SMS services, information platforms, and enterprise solutions delivered over mobile and fixed telecommunications networks. The expansion of VAS offerings has the potential to increase digital inclusion, create employment opportunities for software developers and content creators, and generate new revenue streams for telecommunications operators and businesses across Liberia.

Presenting the license on behalf of the LTA Board of Commissioners, Licensing and Regulations Commissioner Ben A. Fofana emphasized that the Authority remains committed to maintaining high standards within the sector. “The LTA follows a rigorous licensing process that includes legal reviews, due diligence, engineering assessments, and other regulatory checks to ensure that only qualified entities are authorized to provide services to the Liberian people,” Commissioner Fofana said. He further stressed the importance of regulatory compliance and quality service delivery.

“We expect full adherence to the terms and conditions of this license and will continue to monitor operators to ensure that high service standards are maintained throughout the telecommunications sector,” he added. Receiving the license on behalf of VITA Business Line Inc., Chief Executive Officer Varney A. Fahnbulleh expressed appreciation to the LTA. He described the occasion as a significant milestone for his company. The LTA remains committed to fostering a competitive and inclusive telecommunications environment that empowers local businesses, drives innovation, and expands access to digital services for all Liberians.
