Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has been honored with the Golden Image Award 2026, receiving a Certificate of Honor in recognition of its outstanding contributions to advancing digital inclusion and strengthening cybersecurity across Liberia. The award was presented during the Golden Image and Excellence Awards held in Monrovia, where the LTA was recognized for expanding access to digital technologies through flagship initiatives such as the School Connect Project and for leading nationwide cybersecurity awareness campaigns. The recognition highlights the Authority’s efforts to bridge the digital divide by extending internet connectivity to schools across Liberia, enabling students in underserved communities to access online educational resources, virtual learning opportunities, and essential digital skills.

Accepting the honor, LTA Commissioner Patrick R. Honnah said the Authority remains committed to ensuring that every Liberian benefits from the country’s digital transformation. “Digital inclusion isn’t about cables and towers. It’s about a child in the county being able to search, to learn, and to dream,” Honnah said. “Our goal is to ensure that no Liberian is left behind in the digital age.” Beyond expanding connectivity, the LTA has intensified nationwide public awareness campaigns on cybersecurity, educating students, businesses, government institutions, and consumers on safe internet practices, including password security, phishing prevention, data protection, and reporting cyber fraud.

The Authority said its approach is focused on expanding digital access while ensuring that Liberians are equipped to use technology safely and securely. “This award belongs to every Liberian who now has a chance to get online and to do so safely,” the LTA said. “We remain committed to expanding digital access, strengthening cybersecurity, and working with our partners to build a safer, more inclusive digital future for all.” The Golden Image and Excellence Awards recognize institutions that have demonstrated excellence and measurable impact in national development.
