LTA Sparks Cyber Awareness in Buchanan as Nationwide Campaign Gains
Momentum
As part of Liberia’s Cybersecurity Month celebration, the Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) brought its nationwide awareness campaign to Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, on Thursday. Led by Commissioner Angela Cassell Bush of the Department of International Gateway Services, the outreach engaged students from several schools, including W.P.L. Brumskine Methodist, Bassa High, J.C. Early, St. Peter Claver, and Kpanay Town Public School. Students learned about online safety, responsible digital conduct, and how telecommunications can drive national growth.
LTA Chairman Clarence Massaquoi urged students to use technology for innovation and career development while staying alert to cyber threats. He also called on lawmakers to fast-track the passage of the pending Cybersecurity Bill.
Commissioner Patrick Honnah joined Commissioner Bush in launching the Cyber Marathon, a highlight of the month-long campaign that will continue across other counties. Interactive sessions led by Mr. Mohammed Fahart of Telecel, the campaign’s prime sponsor, energized participants. Grand Bassa Superintendent Hon. Karyou Johnson welcomed the team and received the Cyber Marathon torch, marking the symbolic handover for the next phase of Liberia’s cybersecurity awareness drive
