Liberia Champions Inclusive AI Development at OECD-AU Summit in Cairo
Liberia has joined the continental conversation on the future of Artificial Intelligence (AI). At the OECD–African Union AI Summit held in Cairo, Egypt, Commissioner for International Gateway Services Angela Cassell Bush represented the country and made a strong case for Liberia’s role in Africa’s digital transformation. The three-day summit gathered policymakers, industry leaders, and AI experts from across Africa and the world to explore how to translate AI strategies into real-world solutions that fuel sustainable growth.
In her remarks, Commissioner Bush reaffirmed Liberia’s commitment to embracing AI responsibly and inclusively, while urging international collaboration to ensure no country—especially developing nations—is excluded from the benefits of this rapidly evolving technology. “AI is more than just technology—it is a tool for transforming lives and creating opportunities,” she said, stressing the importance of leveraging AI to strengthen economic growth, innovation, academia, and solutions to pressing challenges.
Commissioner Bush also called on partners including the OECD, African Union, and global tech stakeholders to support efforts aimed at bridging digital divides across Africa, ensuring equal access to AI-driven opportunities.
The summit concluded with a collective pledge from participating nations to advance inclusive AI solutions that empower all Africans, laying the groundwork for a future where the continent actively shapes its digital destiny
