LTA Strengthens Cybersecurity Awareness in Harper Through Nationwide Marathon
The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has taken its nationwide Cybersecurity Marathon to Harper, Maryland County, equipping students with practical knowledge to stay safe online and helping build a more secure digital future for Liberia. The awareness campaign brought together students from several Elementary and Junior high schools in Harper and Pleebo, where they learned about online safety, cyber threats, and responsible digital behavior. LTA Commissioner Hon. Angela Cassell Bush reminded participants that cybersecurity is everyone’s responsibility and encouraged them to remain alert while using the internet.
“Cybersecurity begins with each of us. By practicing safe online habits and staying informed, we can all help create a safer digital environment,” Commissioner Bush said. Delivering the keynote address, Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott cautioned that cybercrime can affect anyone and stressed the importance of being proactive in protecting personal information online. “Cybercriminals do not discriminate. Whether you are a student, parent, or professional, everyone must take steps to protect themselves in the digital space,” she said.
LTA Chairperson Hon. Clarence K. Massaquoi reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to raising cybersecurity awareness across the country, noting that the campaign will continue until more Liberians are equipped with the knowledge and skills to safely navigate the digital world. “Our goal is to ensure that every community has the information and tools needed to stay safe online as Liberia continues its digital transformation,” Massaquoi said. The Cybersecurity Marathon is part of the LTA’s ongoing nationwide public awareness campaign aimed at promoting responsible internet use and strengthening cybersecurity awareness among citizens, especially young people.
