LTA Urges Bomi Students to Promote Online Safety
TUBMANBURG, BOMI COUNTY — The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has urged students in Bomi County to guard against cyberbullying, online scams, and the misuse of personal information. The call was made during the LTA’s Cybersecurity Awareness Marathon in Tubmanburg, held under the theme “Secure Our Digital Future.” The event brought together local officials, LTA Commissioners, students, and Telecel, an official sponsor. Representing First Lady Madam Kartumu Y. Boakai, Dr. Adam Kyne encouraged students to embrace digital innovation and become creators of technology rather than just consumers, emphasizing the message: “Build your own.”
Commissioner Ben A. Fofana, representing the Chairperson of the LTA, urged students to share digital safety knowledge with their peers, families, and communities. Commissioner Angela Cassell Bush of International Gateway Services also highlighted the importance of expanding cybersecurity education across Liberia. The LTA campaign promotes responsible internet use and equips young people with knowledge to navigate the digital space safely. The campaign will conclude on Saturday, October 31, with a cybersecurity awareness walk from Rehab Junction to the Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville.
