LTA Issues First Insurance VAS Aggregator Licenses

Monrovia, Liberia – October 1, 2025 – The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) has issued its first-ever licenses for insurance Value-Added Services (VAS) aggregators, opening a new space for Liberian entrepreneurs in the telecom industry.

Commissioner Ben Fofana, speaking for the LTA Board, called the move a “major advancement for Liberia’s digital economy,” stressing that the initiative will build investor confidence, encourage competition, and expand opportunities for smaller local operators. So far, five companies have completed the licensing process, with the LTA aiming for at least ten by December. Licensees are required to meet regulatory standards to ensure a sustainable and reliable telecom sector.

The newly licensed operators expressed optimism, pledging to create opportunities for young Liberians and help grow the country’s digital future. This milestone underscores the LTA’s commitment to innovation, consumer protection, and broader participation in Liberia’s telecom market
