Liberia Launches Three-Day Cybersecurity Conference Under Theme “Secure Our World”
Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Telecommunications Authority (LTA) officially launched a three-day Cybersecurity Conference today at the Sinkor Palace Hotel, bringing together government officials, industry leaders, and telecommunications stakeholders under the theme “Secure Our World.” The event was graced by His Excellency Joseph Nyumah Boakai and other key figures in Liberia’s digital and technology sectors.
During the opening ceremony, President Boakai emphasized the critical importance of developing a robust cybersecurity framework to address the growing threats facing Liberia’s digital space. “Cybersecurity is no longer optional—it is essential. I urge all government ministries and agencies to prioritize cybersecurity in their programs to protect our nation’s digital infrastructure and citizens,” he stated.
Acting Commissioner for International Gateway Services, Madam Angela Cassell Bush, highlighted the role of awareness and education in combating cyber threats. “Raising awareness is the first line of defense against cybersecurity challenges. These issues are not only critical for Liberia but have global implications,” she said, underscoring the importance of collaboration across sectors to safeguard digital assets.
The conference, organized by the LTA, aims to promote cybersecurity education, share best practices, and advance initiatives that strengthen Liberia’s ability to respond to cyber threats. Over the course of three days, participants will engage in workshops, panel discussions, and presentations designed to: • Enhance understanding of current and emerging cyber threats, • Develop practical strategies for prevention and response, and • Foster collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders. By hosting this conference, Liberia is taking a proactive step toward building a secure digital environment, equipping policymakers, businesses, and the public with the tools and knowledge needed to protect the nation’s growing digital infrastructure
